Rosehips, also known as wild rose, is a wild shrub that belongs to the Rosaceae family. Native to North Africa, the Middle East and Europe, rosehip grows on the edge of forests, in pastures and on rather drylands. Its berries are harvested in the wild in hedgerows and are attributed to great medicinal properties. It is one of the main vitamin C supplier shrubs in Europe. It is said that during World War II, the English and Scandinavians were entirely deprived of citrus fruits and relied exclusively on rosehip jam as a source of vitamin C.
