Milk Thistle is an herb whosehistory dates back over 2,000 years — its healing abilities were first described by Greek physician Dioscorides back in the year 40 A.D. Milk Thistle is known for its ability to promote liver health, as it helps rebuild liver cells, cleanse toxins from the body and diminish liver damage.
Turmeric natively grows in Southeast Asian countries and due to its yellow color, it is known as "golden spice". It is a member of the ginger family, so it is related to both ginger and galangal. Turmeric has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, and is a source of curcumin, meaning it stimulates liver detoxification.
Yellow Dock, botanically known as Rumex Crispus, is a perennial herb belonging to the Polygonaceae family. Yellow dock has been valued for its healing properties for centuries, but it gained particular respect in traditional herbal medicine in the 1700s. Yellow dock supports liver health, thus enhancing body detoxification.
Dandelion is a plant blooming with beautiful yellow flowers. Its name is translated from French as "lion's tooth". In addition to its beauty and unusual name, dandelion root helps to protect the liver and promote its healthy functioning. This is because dandelion root is rich in antioxidants, meaning it protects cells from damage.
Beetroot is a plant belonging to the Amaranthaceae-Chenopodiaceae family. Historically, beet leaves were consumed before the roots. However, nowadays the roots are more often used, as they are sweeter and tastier than the bitter leaves. Beetroot is a storehouse of nutrients, including vitamin E, ascorbic acid, carotenes, phytoestrogens and phenolic acids. It is useful for protecting the liver and promoting its detoxifying abilities.
Ginger, scientifically known as Zingiber officinale, is a flowering herb whose root is appreciated both as a delicious spice and healing remedy. It is full of beneficial nutrients including pantothenic acid, capsaicin, beta-carotene, curcumin, salicylate, caffeic acid, vitamin C, vitamin B6, folate, niacin, riboflavin, among others. Ginger is believed to be useful for strengthening the liver and protecting its cells from damage.
